Biography

Hector was born in Venezuela in 1989. He attended The Luis Manuel Gutierrez School of Music at Juan Griego on the Venezuelan Island of Margarita. There, he had the opportunity to study popular and classical guitar, clarinet, saxophone, and musical theory.

Hector’s career evolved quickly. He toured many countries with very distinguished bands and groups such as Orquesta Latino Caribeña Simón Bolívar, Simón Bolívar Jazz Big Band, Ensamble de saxofones del conservatorio Simón Bolívar, and Orquesta Sinfonica Simón Bolívar. All these prestigious groups belong to Fundamusical Simón Bolívar (National Network of Youth and Children Orchestras of Venezuela). Moreover, Hector has had the privilege to perform with world-famous artists such as Ruben Blades, Oscar D'leon, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Ferrer Ferran, Jan van der Roost, Henk van Twillert, Desorden Publico, Aquiles Baez and Leo Blanco.

Hector defines himself as a self-taught saxophonist since the beginning of his career. Currently, he serves as the saxophonist of the best Latin-American Ska band Desorden Público, and is in great demand for studio recordings throughout Venezuela.

The core of Hector’s development as a musician is his own musical project Quintillo Ensamble. He is musical director, composer, saxophonist, and keyboardist. El Quintillo Ensamble is a world-music group with Venezuelan roots and has been designated the most interesting proposal of the last 30 years in the cultural scene of Venezuela by the famed Venezuelan magazine LADOSIS, creators of the #NewVzlanMusic movement.
