Tenor Sax Mouthpiece

The tenor handcrafted mouthpieces are traditionally bright but many players with a willingness to experiment with different reeds, ligatures and ligature placement have achieved a darker sound. All six mouthpieces are different in the facing, chamber and tip opening. We use either Rico or La Voz 2 or 2 ½ strength reeds to test the tenor mouthpieces. We have been told by many tenor players that “given time to learn how to play these tenor mouthpieces, they can surpass any metal mouthpiece made”.

4*3 (.090 Tip Opening)

This mouthpiece is a great student mouthpiece with more resistance than our other tenor mouthpieces. It is very easy to play and will allow any student to develop their musical ability.

5*3 (.095 Tip Opening)

This mouthpiece is used by many legitimate and combo tenor players because it has a smaller tip opening than our other tenor mouthpieces. The 5*3 is free blowing with good projection and has a clear even sound.

6*3 (.110 Tip Opening)

The Tenor 6*3 is warmly bright with a centered round sound. This model is very popular due to the .110 tip opening which is considered middle of the road for tenor.

7*3 (.114 Tip Opening)

Another popular model is the 7*3 which has a bright round, centered sound with great projection. This mouthpiece is free blowing with great projection.

8*3 (.120 Tip Opening)

The 8*3 is a big, bright, powerful mouthpiece with great projection. The player still gets a centered round sound with this piece and it is worth a try if you are a powerful player.

9*3 (.126 Tip Opening)

This mouthpiece has the biggest tip opening we make. It is also big and powerful but the chamber is slightly larger than the 8*3. The 9*3 has a warmly bright round sound with great projection.
