Apollo Aluminum Tenor mouthpiece October 20, 2011
Reviewer: Kurt Odendahl from Hatboro, PA United States
After years of playing on a hard rubber mouthpiece, I decided to try some metal mouthpieces at a local music shop. I played on a metal Dukoff years ago and the sales person immediately recommended the Claude Lakey Aluminum "Apollo" 6*. I was skeptical when I visually inspected it, but thought I would humor him and give it a test run. Wow, right from the start I loved this mouthpiece! I was able to get a sound with some edge yet was able to get some nice sub-tones in the lower register. Lower notes, Bb, B, C popped right out with no problems. When I played chromaticly through the entire range of the horn, I was pleased with the way it responded over the ENTIRE horn. Altissamo notes came out with ease. I can't wait to use this with my showband's hornline!!
